The NFT marketplace LooksRare goes live with a ‘vampire attack’ on OpenSea. LooksRare is hoping to attract current NFT big spenders who have already used OpenSea by letting these individuals claim LOOKS tokens for free. On 11 January 2022, the daily volume of LooksRare was $323M versus OpenSea’s $147M. To put it in perspective, the average daily trading volume on OpenSea in December 2021 was $105M.
The electronics giant Samsung has partnered with Decentraland to open its flagship 837X store in the metaverse. It will exist only for a limited time.
NFT projects endorsed by celebrities Jay Chou and Edison Chen top OpenSea’s 24-hour sales chart. PhantaBear, a collection of 10,000 NFTs launched by the Jay Chou-backed fashion brand PHANTACi, is currently the top project on OpenSea by sales volume in the past week.
OpenSea recorded a +21% increase in sales and a +8% increase in transactions. NBA Top Shot recorded a +26% increase in sales and a +18% increase in transactions.
